Overview

What This Actually Involves.

Splicing is where a fiber build is finally worth something, and where a marginal job hides best. A splice at 0.15 dB and a splice at 0.02 dB look identical in a closure. The difference only appears on the trace — and later, on the loss budget of a span nobody wants to reopen.

ConLit splices to a documented standard and hands over the traces to prove it. If a splice does not meet the number, it gets redone before the closure is buttoned up, not after the customer reports a problem.

Scope

What's Included.

Fusion splicing

Single fusion and mass fusion, ribbon and loose tube, in closures, cabinets, and huts.

Closure work

Dome and inline closures built, sealed, and re-entered without disturbing existing splices.

OTDR testing

Bidirectional traces at the relevant wavelengths, with event tables captured per fibre.

Power meter & light source

End-to-end insertion loss against the design loss budget, not just a trace.

Termination

Pigtail splicing, connector work, and cabinet build-out to the carrier’s standard.

Emergency restoration

Cut response and splice repair, including after hours — see storm restoration.

How We Run It

Four Steps, No Surprises.

Prep & verify

Cable identified, fibres cleaned and cleaved, and the assignment sheet confirmed against the design before the first splice.

Splice to standard

Every splice measured as it is made. Anything above the agreed threshold gets redone on the spot.

Test bidirectionally

One-direction traces hide gainers and mask real events. We shoot both ways and average.

04

Document & hand over

Trace files, event tables, loss budget comparison, and closure records delivered as a package.

What splice loss do you work to?

We will build to whatever your specification says. Absent one, our internal threshold is 0.10 dB per fusion splice measured bidirectionally, and we redo anything above it.

Do you provide the trace files, or just a report?

Both. You get the native OTDR files as well as a readable summary, so your engineering group can open them in their own software.

Can you splice into live plant?

Yes, with a scheduled maintenance window and the owner’s approval. Live work gets planned, not improvised.
